Our Vision

To be the leading provider of public transport services in New Zealand.

Our Culture

We embrace the diversity of our employees and customers and value the different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives they bring to our work environment. Veolia Transport has developed a friendly, supportive and professional environment where we are committed to our people’s development and encourage their contribution. We treat our employees fairly, and believe they all have a positive contribution to make.

Our Values

Veolia Transport’s values provide a framework for all our strategies, decisions and behaviour. Creating our values is a three stage process; Creating, Sharing and Living. Last year we collected thoughts and ideas from across Australasia. The five values we now have are a consolidated depiction of these thoughts and ideas. They are the key to how we treat each other, our customers and the community in which we work.

Safety logo

Safety is our number one priority - it underlines every activity we undertake whether on the front line, the depots or the offices.

The safety of ourselves, our teams, our customers and our communities is paramount.

Performance logo

In committing ourselves individually and collectively, our focus is on performance. Constant quality improvement of operations

and service, risk management and high results-based standards at all levels: these are the strengths that enable us to create

value and offer a full array of mobility solutions with real and enduring benefits.

Passion logo

Around Australasia, it is passion that fuels the daily commitment of our teams. Supported by a company that encourages

diversity and dialogue, each employee performs their professional responsibilities with the same entrepreneurial spirit and the

same drive to be a trusted partner.

Commitment logo

Faced with the local and global challenges of mobility, we are committed to ongoing innovation, as we deliver on our daily

mission through inventiveness, creativity, sharing best practices and applying modern techniques. Our commitment underlies

our client focus, our recognition of our societal responsibility and our results orientation.

Partnership logo

Partnership with each client means remaining close at hand, understanding and sharing their culture and listening and

exchanging. This proximity allows us to foster dialogue with local public authorities and customers, relying on our diverse,

collective strength to deliver solutions that anticipate their every need and expectation.

These values support our commitment to put our customers first. We understand that travelling should be comfortable, convenient and safe and our aim is to provide the best possible service at the best possible price.

To achieve this we need the right people; people that are talented, passionate about what they do, and committed to providing excellent customer service.

Training & Development

Veolia Transport is committed to supporting and investing in the training and development of our employees; to enhance their expertise, so they may better serve our customers.

We have an experienced training department, with a comprehensive and well developed modular training and development strategy. This comprises multiple courses and programmes covering all areas of our business. This training can occur on the job, through one on one coaching, in group training sessions, by taking on additional tasks or responsibilities and through role rotations, promotions and transfers.

Here is an overview of some of these programmes:

Induction
All our employees undertake a comprehensive induction training period which varies in length according to specific role type.

Safety & Operational
We invest heavily in safety and operational training to assist employees in developing the skills necessary to successfully perforn their duties and to advance their careers. This training is extensive and involves regular updates.

Customer Service
Our employees receive state-of-the-art training in customer service and care. Our unique Going for Green™ programme has achieved excellent results in improving our ability to positively impact and support our passengers. With Going for Green™, employees gain expertise in seeing situations from the customer's viewpoint and learn how to respond effectively.

Supervisory & Management
We support all our managers with targeted training and development, creating an environment where there is respect for each other and freedom from harassment and discrimination. Our Going for Green™ Management module is due to be rolled out in 2010/2011, and Veolia Transport's EXPO (Expanding Potential) system involves regular performance management meetings for those employees not covered by the Collective Employment Agreement. All our supervisors are supported in working towards completion of their National Certificate in First Line Management.

Ongoing Development
Given the importance we place on training and development, we regularly offer ongoing, informal and functional training which includes Going for Green™ refresher modules. This enables us to take every opportunity to provide up-to-date information to our employees.
