While Veolia Transport Auckland is the operator of the Auckland passenger rail network, a number of other parties are also involved in the development and maintenance of the Auckland network.

Auckland Transport and its partners are working to improve the region's train services and passenger rail network coverage. Its main focus is on getting the best out of the existing rail system and train fleet.  This means improving the reliability of train services, introducing more and more frequent services, and providing better stations.
